Contaminated Land Reports
The past use of land and how it may be remediated is now a consideration in development and the Government are intent on brownfield land being used for housing, commercial and retail space to ease the pressure on green field sites.
The engineers are familiar with a wide range of industrial uses being based in Yorkshire and the coal mining areas. The past use of colliery land invariably included gas works, coke works and coal tar plants. Also there were foundries, brass works, ash tips, wagon works and mills which provide a wide range of sites that could contaminate land and offer developable areas for re use.
The engineers produce phase 1 reports to assess the previous use and then a phase 2 report with some site investigation and sampling of the contamination. Once the degree of contamination has been assessed then further sample analyses can take place and a conceptual model produced to provide a method of remediation and verification of the clean up of the site for a suitable use.
